![]() ![]() ![]() It’s not a terribly interesting story and not even remotely necessary. And I felt very, very eeeehhhh… about Lando. Except they don’t realise it’s owned by the Emperor who sends a dangerous bounty hunter after him (no, not that one, a knockoff version of him). Lando owes money to a gangster who makes him accept a job with a big score: steal an expensive space yacht. Like the other Star Wars titles to come out this year, Lando is set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. ![]() He’s not a great character either but it could’ve been worse - can you imagine giving Chewbacca his own series? Wait, that’s next week? Wow, Marvel are really milking this Star Wars licence for everything it’s worth! So it’s up to writer Charles Soule and artist Alex Maleev to somehow come up with a story for this minor supporting character in this 5-issue limited series. Looking forward to the inevitable Boba Fett solo series? Or even the Han Solo solo series? Well, Marvel know what you want because heeeeeere’s… Lando? Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action. ![]() ![]() Suddenly and unexpectedly a family, Herbie, Noon, and their two girls draw closer-until an outside threat to run a highway through their community awakens a fire in Noon, causing her to rise up and fight to hold her family and her community together. The anticipation of bliss and doom, the wages of adultery, slams to a halt when she reaches the summit and finds the forested valley below ablaze in shimmering orange. Her family, she notes wryly, is "an alliance of people at odds." Her beauty is still evident, despite her kitschy clothes and constant cloak of cigarette smoke, but her bright, curious spirit is ebbing, tarnished by poverty, two small children, hard-to-please in-laws and a mighty effort to keep loving Cub, the dull but kind man she married at 17. 'A certain feeling comes from throwing your good life away, and it is one part rapture." So begins Barbara Kingsolver's sprawling novel "Flight Behavior," in which a brooding young woman named Dellarobia Turnbow trudges up a mountain near her shabby eastern Tennessee home to meet a man she intends to take as her lover. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I can’t see anyone just dating immediately after a divorce or going to live with their mother who was “Dead” her entire life. ![]() Kelsey deviates between acting like a brat or desperado. It was so obviously a story – no one would relate with any of the characters. Kelsey’s story is as usual a bit unbelievable, and her relationship with Gabe Slater is rather unbelievable. True Betrayals falls into her crime work and was a enjoyable read. Nora Roberts has played with many genres – crime (in which she is a mildly proficient writer), romance (her best work), Mills and Boon (highly awkward), supernatural (she honestly sucks in it) and futuristic (I haven’t read those yet) But as the two women rebuild their relationship-and Kelsey finds herself swept into an unsettling new romance-she must decide once and for all who she can trust, and who threatens to betray her… The bonds of love can be fragile…as Kelsey learned from her recently ended marriage. Now, at Naomi’s Virginia horse farm, Kelsey is trying to sort out a lifetime of deception-and her feelings about her mother. But now, after all this time, she has discovered the truth: Naomi Chadwick is still alive-after spending years in prison for the murder of her lover. Plot: Kelsey Byden always believed that her mother was dead. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a consolidated review of the original Temptation trilogy- Try, Take, and Trust because I felt the three encompassed the beginning of a story that makes you believe in true love.
